A. Beneficiaries
The Centre Tecnològic de Telecomunicacions de Catalunya (CTTC) is a non-profit research institution in Castelldefels, resulting from a public initiative of Generalitat de Catalunya. Research activities, are organized onto four research divisions: Communication Networks, Communication Systems, Communication Technologies and Geomatics. In terms of scientific production, the CTTC annually produces over 60 and 150 papers in peer-reviewed journals and international conferences, respectively. Currently more than 100 people work at CTTC. In addition, CTTC hosts a pre-doctoral research program that since its creation has provided scientific guidance to more than 50 students, and produced more than 35 PhD thesis, many of them awarded with prizes from academic institutions or technical societies. CTTC also manages an IPR portfolio of 67 granted patents, belonging to 20 families, awarded in different countries in EU, USA, Japan, Hong Kong, and China.

B. Partner Organization
UPC is a public university devoted to high level education and research excellence in engineering. In ONFIRE, the Optical Communication Group (GCO) of the Signal Theory and Communications (TSC) Department of UPC will be involved. The GCO members published more than 20 publications per year including both journals and conferences in the last few years. Another important activity of the GCO members is the supervision of PhD students. The GCO members have advised more than 5 PhD theses in the last 10 years and they have directed more than 50 MsC theses. It is also worth mentioning that the GCO members have been involved in the organization and participation in different summer schools collaborating with many important research entities in Europe and USA.
